The Department of Internal Affairs in Struga has filed a criminal complaint against M.Q. (66), from the village of Bixhevë in Struga, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “abuse of office and official authority,” as provided for under Article 353 of the Criminal Code.

According to the authorities, acting in his capacity as mayor of the Municipality of Struga, he acted in violation of the Law on Primary Education by illegally dismissing the director of a municipal primary school and then appointing another person as acting director.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said the decision was made even though M.Q. was aware that the appointed person did not meet all the conditions set out in Article 118 of the Law on Primary Education. The violations were also identified during an inspection carried out by the State Education Inspectorate.
