Recent statements by Serbian officials have sparked a strong reaction from the Council of Albanian Ambassadors, which considers them expressions of chauvinistic rhetoric that threatens regional stability.
According to the Council, the return of hate speech and past narratives requires a diplomatic response from Albania, as well as attention from international institutions.

The Council of Albanian Ambassadors sharply condemns the recent statements of a minister of the Serbian Government, as they reintroduce into public debate concepts related to the ethnic cleansing of Albanians. Such rhetoric contradicts European values and endangers regional stability.
These positions follow a series of statements that relativize past policies. They add to concerns that Serbia has not yet fully detached itself from the ideology that caused wars and crimes in the former Yugoslavia.
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors also draws attention to the discrimination of Albanians in the Presheva Valley, including the mass passivization of addresses, which is considered a modern genocide.
Underlining that Kosovo’s independence is an irreversible reality, the Council of Albanian Ambassadors calls on Albania to undertake a diplomatic démarche at the Serbian embassy in Tirana. At the same time, in coordination with Kosovo, Tirana should raise this issue with the EU, NATO, and strategic partners.
The Balkans need responsible leadership, implementation of international law, and good neighborly relations, not a return to hate speech.
