Two Socialist Party lawmakers who chair parliamentary committees, Fatmir Xhafaj and Bledi Çuçi, are seeking an explanation of how Erion Veliaj was transferred from the Durrës detention center to the one in Fier.
A source in the Socialist Party parliamentary group who was familiar with the development told Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu that the request, submitted to the Speaker’s Office on Thursday morning, was forwarded to the Ministry of Justice.

The two Socialist committee chairs want to know whether the General Directorate of Prisons had informed the Ministry of Justice about the order to transfer Erion Veliaj, which they described as a state secret.
They have also asked to be provided with the documents related to the process.
The development involving the two Socialist lawmakers follows a debate at a meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, where Bledi Çuçi asked Justice Minister Toni Gogu to explain the transfer of Erion Veliaj.
“Where is the transfer letter? You should have got it before coming in. If you don’t have it, resign!” Çuçi is reported to have told the minister during the meeting.
Toni Gogu replied that he was waiting to receive the information.
