“Through this book, I aim to present the truth about Diana, seen from the perspective of her brother,” said Charles Spencer, the princess’s younger brother, who was killed on August 31, 1997, in Paris, at the age of 36.

According to Flammarion’s announcement, in this book Spencer recounts for the first time, and in detail, the extraordinary story of his life alongside Diana, as well as the tragic week that followed her death.

The book will also be released on the same date by Penguin Michael Joseph in the United Kingdom and Penguin Press in the United States. It will be translated into 12 languages, including Spanish, German and Italian, and published worldwide on September 22.

“As the 30th anniversary of Diana’s tragic death approaches, I have once again been faced with a large number of requests for interviews about my sister,” Charles Spencer said.

He said that this situation prompted him to put his memories and thoughts down on paper, rather than being forced to comment on the opinions of others, many of which, he said, are based on falsehoods that have been accepted over time.

“I want to speak on Diana’s behalf and do so in a positive way,” Spencer emphasizes in the book “Diana, My Sister.” He was the person who delivered the eulogy for the princess during her funeral at Westminster Abbey in London.

Spencer hopes the book will appeal to all those who continue to remember Diana as she was during her lifetime.

“It would make me happy if, after reading the book, those who are too young to remember Diana at the height of her life could understand who she really was: an extraordinary, energetic, loving and talented person, but also someone with a pronounced lack of self-confidence. She faced life directly and, despite her untimely death, left behind a better world,” he concludes.

Charles Spencer, 62, is a former journalist, the author of nine essays and a former member of the House of Lords. Queen Elizabeth was one of his godmothers.
