Erion Brace has criticized the sharp rise in watermelon prices, accusing traders of exploiting both farmers and consumers, while also harming the tourism sector.

In a reaction published on social media, the Socialist Party MP said that farmers in Divjakë had been selling their produce for several weeks at just 6 lekë per kilogram. Meanwhile, the same product was being sold for around 30 lekë per kilogram in tourist areas.
According to Brace, the price difference is unjustified and represents an unwarranted profit for traders. He stressed that the situation harms farmers, consumers and tourism, while calling on traders to reconsider and abandon the high prices.
