Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha once again placed the arrest of former director of the National Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni, at the center of parliamentary debate. From the Parliament podium, he accused the Socialist majority of deliberately avoiding public and parliamentary debate over what he described as the most fatal blow to the national security pyramid.

Berisha told lawmakers that the former head of Albanian intelligence had been recruited directly by organized crime networks and drug cartels. According to him, Parliament has become an institution that blindly serves state structures captured by crime, making it possible for senior officials to evade legal responsibility.
He described Parliament as a despicable servant of the narco-state and a flagrant violator of the vital interests of Albanian citizens. According to the leader of the Democratic Party, Parliament is an institution of shame that obeys the narco-regime in absolute submission—a regime that is the first and only narco-state in Europe.
Instead of abandoning every other issue and placing on the agenda a debate on the fatal blow dealt to the Albanian state, the majority is doing nothing, Berisha said. He asked lawmakers whether they understood what it meant for the head of SHISH to have been a member of the most dangerous criminal group in Europe, which controlled hundreds of millions of euros on Edi Rama’s behalf at AKSHI and controlled the internet and communications throughout the country.
Berisha went on to accuse part of the majority of ordering killings and making filthy deals with drug cartels, while now acting as an attorney for Rama and Vlora Hyseni. He said the majority had placed the mafia interests of a man with neither law nor morals above the interests of Albanians, Albania, NATO and international cooperation. According to him, Rama behaves like the master on the ground, while the majority behaves like his slaves.
Berisha said he understood that the majority’s ties to crime forced it to take such positions. He asked how the majority could avoid a debate before the public at a time when gangs, the mafia and cartels were recruiting the head of SHISH, and where it found the moral standing or justification for doing so. He called the majority’s lawmakers the padrino’s slaves and added that Parliament should disappear as soon as possible because it tramples on every interest of Albanians.
In conclusion, Berisha said that if these ties did not exist, the majority would have exposed Edi Rama completely before the public and revealed everything about him. The problem, according to him, is that the majority is protecting its own people. He concluded that Parliament had no moral right to exist and was a spokesperson for Balluku, the Troplinis and the Bajris.
