Territorial Reform Report: PD Blocks Parliament Podium! Balla Requests Immediate Vote, Passes with 84 Votes After Break; Rama Present

Tensions in the Albanian Parliament between the ruling majority and the opposition led to heated discussions and accusations. Debates peaked over the Territorial Reform report.

The opposition requested a 3-month extension of the commission’s deadline, but the majority was against it.

After strong tensions, the Democratic Party blocked the podium and parliamentary chaos led to a 5-minute break. The head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, requested that the vote be taken directly without discussion.

Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present in the chamber after a long absence.

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi moved the session directly to a vote, and with 84 votes in favor from the majority, the expert report prepared by the co-chair of the territorial reform, Arbion Mazniku, was approved.

The opposition did not participate in this vote, while debates in the chamber continue.
