Berisha explains clash with Ilirjana Kuçanaj: Resolution did not follow statutory procedures

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, gave clarifications to the media regarding the debate he had with National Council member Ilirjana Kuçanaj during the meeting of this forum.

According to Berisha, the resolution that Kuçanaj asked to read was not placed on the agenda because it was not submitted in accordance with the procedures defined by the party’s statute.

He stressed that the right to propose resolutions is recognized for every PD member, provided that statutory rules are followed during their submission.

“The resolution is defined as to how it is presented. I gave her a reply this morning regarding her request. If we do it outside the statute, it is not within my competence. I have the duty not to deny anyone any right in accordance with the statute,” Berisha said.

Further, the Democratic leader addressed the voting process within the party, for which he guaranteed that the result will be published with transparency.

“This party announces the result in front of the cameras. The other one, since 2009 until today, has executed the vote,” Berisha declared, while accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of having violated the free vote.
