Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has openly accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of using police violence against students protesting for their rights.
Addressing a message to the students, lecturers and the entire Albanian people, Berisha alleged that a group of purported protesters who emerged from the Ministry of Interior had planned to attack businesses, but that their plan was foiled by the media, which documented the incident on camera.

“A group of people wearing two masks were filmed yesterday leaving the Ministry of Interior with their faces covered by a black mask and another mask, shouting ‘Rama to prison’ and then preparing to storm and attack businesses. It was thanks to the media, which caught this terrorist group in the act as they were released from the premises of the Ministry of Interior, that the tragedy orchestrated by Rama was prevented. I call on citizens to join the students today against the godfather of power. The solution is: Rama must resign,” he said.
