The meeting of the Committee for the Oversight of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) had a quorum and its work will continue, despite the departure of lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). This was stated by the committee’s chair, Bekë Berisha.

According to Berisha, one member from the Serb List was absent from the meeting, but this did not affect the quorum. Referring to the reaction of PDK lawmakers, he said their concerns did not belong to just one party. Berisha called on all members of the Kosovo Assembly to contribute to stabilizing the situation, ensuring the regular functioning of committees and creating an opportunity for debate in parliament.
He described the political situation as complicated and called for lawmakers to engage in overcoming the institutional deadlock. Berisha said that, if the country does not go to elections again, only 4-5 days remain in the current mandate of the Assembly.
Recalling that the country has gone to elections three times, he warned that a lack of genuine communication and interest could once again lead Kosovo toward elections. According to Berisha, matters are moving forward without sufficient involvement from lawmakers, while the responsibility for showing the way out of the deadlock lies with representatives of all political parties.
Berisha said that the developments of the 16th had changed the situation in Kosovo. He stressed that this was not just about one organization or four or six individuals, but about the future of the country. For this reason, he said, lawmakers must sit down together and begin looking for a solution, since no one else can provide it in their place.
Speaking about the responsibility of Kosovo’s institutions, the committee chair recalled a period when, as he put it, embassies told them what they had to do, while others admired them. Now, he said, members of the Assembly must assume their own role, without waiting for someone from outside to deal with Kosovo’s issues. Berisha described the situation as serious.
In conclusion, Berisha called on lawmakers from all parties to communicate with one another and work to overcome the situation. He said that, alongside talks, sincerity and patriotism were needed to reach a solution together.
