The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, reacted after an audio recording was published by former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, in which businessman Ron Yeffet can be heard.

Berisha claims that Prime Minister Edi Rama, through the state-owned company “KAYO” and in cooperation with Yeffet, has been involved in international arms trafficking. According to him, the activity is being carried out in violation of Albanian and international laws.
“A NATO member state is involved in arms trafficking. It is exploiting the war in Ukraine to cover up its criminal arms trafficking,” Berisha declared.
Referring to Arben Ahmetaj’s interview with Çim Pëka, the DP leader said that Ron Yeffet’s audio recording allegedly shows that the company “KAYO,” with Nufi’s assistance, is being used to present Albania as a country exporting weapons bought or produced in conflict zones, including Sudan.
Berisha described Yeffet as Edi Rama’s trafficker and said that the published phone conversations indicate that he was aware he was carrying out “dirty work.” According to him, Yeffet had admitted to those he was speaking with that he had been tasked with carrying out these actions, which Berisha described as arms smuggling in the interests of the government and, directly, of Edi Rama.
The opposition leader described the matter as an “international megascandal” and an unprecedented case in the world, accusing Rama of having turned to arms trafficking in addition to drug trafficking.
“Edi Rama’s arms smuggling is an unprecedented case in the world: in addition to drugs, he has now turned to arms,” Berisha said.
He announced that the opposition would urgently submit to Parliament a request to establish a parliamentary investigative committee concerning the matter.

“Dear friends, Ramaduro is not satisfied with drug trafficking alone, but through the state enterprise and his Ron, they violate the country’s laws as well as international laws. A NATO member state is involved in arms trafficking. It is exploiting the war in Ukraine to cover up its criminal arms trafficking.
In his interview with Çim Pëka, Arben Ahmetaj published a voice recording of Ron Yeffet, Edi Rama’s trafficker. It clearly proves that Edi Rama and his Ron, through their enterprise “Kayo” and with Nufi’s assistance, are engaged in international arms trafficking in flagrant violation of national and international laws. They use Albania, a NATO member state but also the Padrino’s fiefdom, to present it as a country exporting weapons that they buy or produce in war zones, such as Sudan, and so on.
The recording of Ron Yeffet’s phone conversations reveals that Rama’s man knows he is doing dirty work, but admits to those he is speaking with that he has been tasked with carrying out the dirty work in this case: the serious crime of arms smuggling by the government, in fact directly by Edi Rama.
I condemn this heinous crime in the strongest possible terms. Edi Rama’s arms smuggling is an unprecedented case in the world: in addition to drugs, he has now turned to arms.
The opposition will urgently submit to Parliament its request to establish a parliamentary investigative committee into this international megascandal involving Edi Rama.”
