BDI: Support for Ivan Stoilković constitutes legitimization of the “Serbian World”

BDI has reacted to the statement of a minister of the Serbian Government, who publicly said that Slobodan Milošević should have carried out and completed the ethnic cleansing of Albanians.

According to BDI, such a statement cannot be treated as an isolated individual stance, but represents the manifestation of a dangerous ideology that continues to glorify the policies responsible for wars, genocide, and crimes against humanity in the Balkans.

In this context, BDI assesses that last night’s vote in the Assembly of North Macedonia has taken on special political significance. Ivan Stoilković was elected minister also with the votes of VLEN deputies, even though, as this party says, he is known for his openly pro-Serb, pro-Russian, and anti-Albanian positions.

According to BDI, Stoilković for years has promoted the policies of Aleksandar Vučić, supported the “Serbian World” narratives, and has not hidden his hostility towards the interests of Albanians.

“It is no coincidence that they share the same ideological platform, the same narratives, and the same political sponsors. Therefore, VLEN cannot claim that they did not know who they were voting for. With their vote, they gave institutional legitimacy to an exponent of the ‘Serbian World’ policy within the Government of North Macedonia.

We recall that the European Parliament’s Report on North Macedonia clearly highlighted the danger from the influence of the ‘Serbian World’, as well as the increase of malign Russian and Chinese influence in the region. Instead of taking these warnings seriously, the governing majority decided to empower precisely one of the most vocal promoters of these policies.

BDI unreservedly condemns any statement that justifies or promotes ethnic cleansing and demands a clear distancing from any ideology that rehabilitates the Milošević regime.

Equally, we demand that VLEN explain to Albanian citizens how it can claim to defend their interests while voting for a minister who for years has been a symbol of anti-Albanian, pro-Serb, and pro-Russian propaganda.

“Albanians do not need representatives who legitimize the exponents of the ‘Serbian World’, but representatives who defend the dignity, history, and Euro-Atlantic orientation of the country,” says BDI./Telegrafi/
