Infrastructure Minister Dimal Basha has said that work on the Gjilan motorway is nearly 80% complete.
Responding to a question from MP Hykmete Bajrami, the minister said the contractors responsible for the four lots had been notified in writing that their contracts would be terminated because they had not fulfilled their obligations.

Basha cited failure to meet contractual terms, work carried out contrary to the design and site requirements, delays in construction, and the lack of an appropriate laboratory as reasons for the decision.
The minister also released figures on spending to date for each lot.
According to Basha, around €78.5 million has been spent on the project in total.
Basha said he had personally dealt with the motorway’s problems since taking office and that a comprehensive file had now been prepared to help determine the next steps.
He added that the Ministry of Infrastructure plans to hire a specialist company to redesign the necessary sections, prepare new tender documents, and verify the accuracy and quality of the work completed so far.
However, Basha did not give a specific date for the motorway’s completion or its opening to traffic.
