Kosovo’s Ambassador to Brussels and head of the negotiating team, Agron Bajrami, said he had raised with European Union envoy Peter Sorensen the statement by a Serbian minister regarding ethnic cleansing.
According to Bajrami, the Serbian minister openly said what he believes Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić thinks.

“I formally raised with envoy Sorensen the disturbing statement by a Serbian minister who publicly supports the ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo. The Serbian minister articulated what the Serbian President thinks — she simply was not supposed to say it publicly, while he is now trying to contain the damage,” Bajrami wrote.
He said such statements and actions by Serbian officials constitute a clear violation of the 2023 Brussels Agreement. Bajrami noted that the preamble of the agreement obliges the parties to “overcome the legacy of the past” and acknowledges that “the inviolability of borders and respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty… are an essential condition for peace.” According to him, this language severely damages the EU-supported dialogue, trust and normalisation based on mutual recognition and respect.
“Serbia’s distancing itself is merely an empty promise — it represents neither genuine remorse nor a rejection of the crimes of the Milošević era. Kosovo remains committed to the process, but only when its fundamental principles are consistently respected. What is the point of talking about implementation when Serbia continues to violate the Agreements in words and actions?” Ambassador Agron Bajrami added.
