According to a media statement, during the inspection of vehicles entering the Republic of Kosovo, customs officials selected one vehicle for inspection.
During questioning, the vehicle’s driver stated that he had no goods or monetary assets to declare. However, during a detailed inspection carried out together with the Kosovo Police, 504 pieces of Barium Sulfate (Bariumsulfate), which had not been declared, were found hidden in the vehicle’s trunk.
The authorities determined that the individual had attempted to bring the goods into the customs territory of the Republic of Kosovo without presenting them for inspection and without fulfilling the legal declaration obligations. Through this action, he committed a customs offense in violation of the provisions of the Customs and Excise Code No. 08/L-247, which stipulates that any person bringing goods into the customs territory of the Republic of Kosovo must present and declare them to the customs authorities.
Kosovo Customs detained and seized the goods, while administrative and offense-related proceedings will continue in the case, in accordance with the customs legislation in force, the statement said.
