Arrested two days ago, 32-year-old dies at Vlora police station

This morning, a 32-year-old man died in the detention rooms of the Vlora Police Station.

The man was identified as Enea Shparthi, a resident of Vlora, who had been arrested in flagrante delicto on the evening of August 29 by officers of the Vlora Police Station on suspicion of the criminal offense of “Theft.”

According to preliminary information, at around 9:50 a.m., the 32-year-old was found in serious medical condition in the holding rooms where he was being detained.

Medical services were immediately notified, and the young man was transported to Vlora Regional Hospital.

At 10:05 a.m., doctors confirmed his death. Preliminary suspicions are that the 32-year-old died as a result of cardiac arrest, while a forensic examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

Enea Shparthi was being held in the detention rooms of the Vlora Police Station after being arrested in flagrante delicto and, according to procedure, was expected to appear before the Vlora Court within the legal 72-hour deadline to be informed of the security measure against him.

Under the direction of the Vlora Prosecutor’s Office, investigations are continuing to clarify the full circumstances of the incident and legally document the case.

“Under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, work is continuing to fully clarify the circumstances and legally document the case,” the police said.
