Argument over parking space leaves 12-year-old girl shot dead in the US

A 12-year-old girl has died after being shot during an incident at a children’s soccer match in Maryland, US.

The incident occurred at Leon Day Park, where, according to authorities, an argument between two men over a parking space escalated into gunfire.

According to police, the two men opened fire on each other, and the 12-year-old girl was caught in the middle of the exchange. She was rushed to hospital but died several hours later from her injuries.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said the two men had been involved in an argument before shooting at each other.

“And in the middle of the exchange of gunfire, a 12-year-old girl, who had most likely gone there to watch soccer, was shot and died,” Worley said.

Police arrived at the scene at around 6:15 p.m., where they found the 12-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman with gunshot wounds.

The 25-year-old woman was taken to hospital and, according to reports, is in stable condition.

Two men, aged 23 and 28, were also injured in the shooting. Both were taken to hospital, while authorities are investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
