Shooting at Seattle Food Festival Leaves Three Dead and Several Injured, Including a 2-Year-Old

A shooting during the popular Bite of Seattle food festival, near the iconic Space Needle in Seattle, United States, left three people dead and several others injured, including a 2-year-old child.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, when two people allegedly opened fire on each other in the middle of a crowd of visitors. The gunfire caused panic, sending hundreds of people fleeing, while footage shared on social media showed people knocking down fences in an attempt to escape.

Two people were confirmed dead at the scene. Four others, including a 2-year-old boy, were taken to hospital, while another person with gunshot wounds later arrived at a different hospital. One of the injured later died from their wounds, bringing the death toll to three.

One suspect, identified only as a “young person,” was arrested by police. Meanwhile, authorities are continuing to search for a second person suspected of being involved in the exchange of gunfire.

Two firearms were seized at the scene. Authorities said the community is no longer at risk, while the cause of the confrontation remains unclear and the investigation is ongoing.

Seattle police officers, firefighters, emergency crews, as well as FBI agents and personnel from other federal agencies, were involved in the operation.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the incident as “a horrific act of violence.” She said the community was trying to understand how an event dedicated to culture and entertainment had turned into a tragedy involving gun violence.
