Arben Gashi Calls Abdixhiku’s Proposal of Bekim Sejdiu for President “Idiocy

LDK MP Arben Gashi has explained why they do not support Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for the post of President of Kosovo.

According to him, the opposition is linked to the lack of a balance of powers, issues concerning Sejdiu’s constitutional credentials and decisions, as well as the way the candidacy was presented within the party.

“First, there is no balance of powers. Second, we have the issue of his constitutional credentials and decisions, which are scandalous. Third, there is the procedure followed within the party, which is wrong,” Gashi declared.

He also described the candidate selection process as flawed. Gashi said Abdixhiku should have taken into account that several MPs, including Avdullah Hoti, would not vote for Sejdiu.

“I think it is idiocy in action (on Mr Abdixhiku’s part), because they should have known that there are MPs who have personal reasons not to vote for this particular name; they should have known that Avdullah Hoti would not vote for him under any circumstances. Why did they choose that name? It is political; there are five political reasons for it right there,” he declared.

Gashi described the proposal as a political mistake, linking it to the LDK’s performance in the elections.

“The person who destroyed the party, lost you 100,000 votes, cut the number of MPs in half, and you reward him with the presidency. What kind of political logic is that? Why do we exist in politics if we take this action?” Gashi said.
