Arab countries have reacted with strong condemnation to the attacks Iran carried out against United States allies in the Middle East. The developments come at a time when regional tensions are rising, following a week of military operations between Washington and Tehran.
Iranian forces struck targets in Oman, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar from Thursday evening until the early hours of Friday. In Qatar, a child was injured by debris from a downed missile.

In Iraq, an official from an organization said that nine fighters from an Iranian-Kurdish group were killed in an Iranian missile and drone attack.
Following these strikes, several countries in the region issued strong statements against Tehran’s actions, while also calling for the parties to return to dialogue.
Qatar called for the serious resumption of negotiations and a diplomatic solution. The United Arab Emirates, meanwhile, described the strike in Iraq as a flagrant violation of that country’s sovereignty.
Jordan condemned what it described as “brutal Iranian attacks,” warning that a new escalation could endanger the stability of the entire region.
Kuwait also condemned the attacks on Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan, considering them a direct threat to the security of countries in the region.
Despite calls for diplomacy, there are so far no signs that the United States and Iran are prepared to return to the negotiating table.
