The national data center could begin construction in 2027, if procedures are completed as planned. Digital Transformation Minister Stefan Andonovski said this in an interview with Sitel television.
According to Andonovski, the site has been selected near Skopje, while the Ministry of Transport is preparing the necessary urban planning documentation.

Talks are underway with potential lenders and international partners to finance the project, which is part of the Reform Agenda and the Growth Plan. The plan envisages that 30 percent of the funding will come from a grant.
The ministry is also in contact with investors interested in setting up private data centers. Andonovski stressed that initiatives that could harm the environment would not be supported.
“The project is moving forward, and all the steps are being followed properly. I am sure that in 2027 we will be able to lay the foundation stone,” he said.
The minister also announced that the National Strategy for the Use of Artificial Intelligence has been published and is currently in the consultation phase. The adoption of the law on artificial intelligence is planned for next year./Telegrafi/
