Macedonia is expected to build a national data centre, a project for which the location and financing model are currently being determined. Digital Transformation Minister Stefan Andonovski told TVM2 that this infrastructure will create the foundation for the government cloud, cybersecurity and the advancement of artificial intelligence.
He said that the feasibility study has already been drafted, stressing that the project is not limited to constructing a building for servers. According to Andonovski, it is a strategic state facility that will support the country’s digitalisation process.

“Roads serve to connect cities, while the data centre will connect institutions. Instead of each institution having separate server facilities with different security standards, the state will have a shared, modern hub with high-level protection and energy efficiency. It will provide digital services for the next 20-30 years,” Andonovski said.
