Albanian solidarity raises $150,000 for mother File and her son with special needs

A powerful wave of support has swept the Bulku family, just hours after the clash that occurred during yesterday’s protest near the Parliament headquarters. The reaction came as a result of Prime Minister Edi Rama’s statements regarding File Bulku and her son with autism spectrum disorder, Endi.

Through an initiative opened on the GoFundMe platform, approximately $150,000 in aid has been collected so far.

In her clarification, File Bulku stated that at the moment of the conflict she had no connection with the opposition gathering, but had just returned from accompanying her son to a therapy session. She explained that the closed roads forced her to pass near the tense area, where she was exposed to tear gas dispersed by law enforcement forces.

She rejected Prime Minister Rama’s accusations that she was used as a ‘shield’ by the demonstrators and challenged him to come forward openly to confront the truth publicly.

Meanwhile, the head of government considered the solidarity expressed by the protest participants as an act of ‘hypocrisy’. He accused them of sending the family near Parliament ‘by abusing that woman and her son’, an action he compared to the methods of terrorist groups.

On the other hand, the humanitarian organization ‘Brandon Forever 22 Legacy’ has taken the initiative to offer concrete help for File Bulku and Endi.

According to campaign representatives, the mother-son couple lives in a difficult economic situation and their home needs immediate intervention. Initially, the goal was to secure $85,000 to carry out the reconstruction of the house and to cover the costs of care and treatment for Endi. However, the generosity of citizens has significantly exceeded the projected figure, bringing the total deposited to around $150,000.

The organizers have appealed to the public not to stop donations. They emphasized that the collected money will serve to transform the family’s living conditions, as well as to ensure proper long-term assistance for the child on the autism spectrum.
