Greek police have arrested an Albanian citizen following a wave of thefts. He is a 44-year-old man from Albania who was living in the Istiaia area, in northern Evia.
The first incident happened on Thursday, when he took a vehicle from the yard of a home in Edipsos and drove toward Fthiotida. A day later, the 44-year-old appeared in Nea Anchialos, where he forced his way into a teacher’s house and took jewelry, watches, a laptop, a tablet, as well as other valuables.

The case was solved after the teacher, who had fallen victim to the theft, located the tablet’s signal in Glyfa, Fthiotida, through a tracking app.
The Stylida police station was immediately notified, and officers went to Glyfa, where they found the tablet and some of the stolen items inside the Albanian 44-year-old’s car. The investigation also showed that the vehicle had been stolen as well.
When he was arrested, he was on the beach and tried to get away, but police quickly managed to handcuff him.
Checks also revealed that he had entered Greece illegally in 2021 and had not obtained a residence permit to date.
