According to diplomatic sources at the European Commission who spoke to Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, October 13 is being considered for the next intergovernmental conference between the EU Presidency and Albania.
“We hope October 13 will bring another ‘Super Tuesday’, when Albania will close a new chapter. Montenegro, meanwhile, is expected to close three chapters,” the source said.
Information obtained by Top Channel indicates that the chapter in question is Chapter 20, which covers Enterprise and Industrial Policy.
On July 14, 2026, Albania provisionally closed the first three chapters of its accession negotiations: Chapter 25, on Science and Research; Chapter 26, on Education and Culture; and Chapter 30, on External Relations.
Three months ago in Brussels, Prime Minister Edi Rama described the provisional closure of these chapters as another milestone on Albania’s path toward full EU membership.
Rama has said he aims to conclude negotiations by 2027, with the goal of Albania becoming a full member of the European Union in 2030.
