Albania deploys 17 military personnel and one helicopter to KFOR mission in Kosovo

The Council of Ministers today approved the participation of the Armed Forces in the international military operation “KFOR” in Kosovo, with a contingent of 17 military personnel and one helicopter.

Albanian personnel will provide air support to KFOR forces during missions involving terrain reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, patrols, CASEVAC and SAR operations, as well as the transport of troops and VIPs within the area of operations.

In accordance with KFOR’s plans and agreement with Kosovo, Albanian military personnel will also assist the population during civil emergencies.

The helicopter and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania will be deployed at Camp Boondsteel, in Ferizaj, Kosovo.

The mission will continue until December 31, 2029. The deployment will be organized on a rotational basis, with periods of up to 3 months for contingent personnel and up to 6 months for the helicopter.

For the military personnel involved in this operation, the Ministry of Defense will cover, in addition to their monthly salaries, a daily allowance of 12,000 lekë for the entire period of their stay on the mission.

Mission participants will also have their accommodation, food and any other expenses necessary for the normal conduct of the operation covered.
