Agreement with the US: Majority Holds Parliamentary Session Behind Closed Doors

With its 74 votes and in the absence of the opposition, the Socialist majority decided that the session to fast-track consideration of a loan agreement with the US to finance military equipment would be held without the media present.

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi said the session would be closed only during discussions on the draft law, while the vote itself would be open.

This was opposed by Opportunity Party MP Agron Shehaj, who, together with Erald Kapri, was the only other lawmaker in the chamber.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party did not participate, having previously stated that the opposition supports the agreement but objects to the procedure.
