Serbian President Aleksandër Vuçiç has informed the country’s media that he will resign as head of state on September 27.

Vuçiç said that evening he would address citizens to thank them for their support. He stressed that he had held the office of president of the Republic for the longest period since the introduction of the multiparty system in Serbia.
“I want to inform you that on September 27 I will resign from the office of president. That evening I will address citizens and thank them for their support. I have been president of the Republic for the longest period since the introduction of the multiparty system in our country. I could not have done this without the citizens of this country,” he said.
The Serbian president added that during his time in office, he had faithfully served Serbia and its citizens, acting with dedication and fighting for them.
