Her arrest took place just a few hours after a search conducted by the anti-corruption agency NABU.

The news was made public on Telegram by Ukrainian lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko and was later reported by Ukrainian media outlet RBC.

NABU and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, SAP, announced this morning the launch of a “special operation to dismantle a criminal organisation.” According to the authorities, the group is suspected of money laundering and was led by a sitting lawmaker and a former lawmaker, while senior officials from the Ukrainian presidency and other individuals are also suspected of having taken part in the activities.

The investigation has unfolded amid a politically tense climate, following former Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov’s call for Ukraine to return to elections, despite the ongoing war.
