The latest ARD poll, published ahead of the elections for the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, places the AfD in the lead, while the CDU continues to lose support.

According to the poll, if elections were held next Sunday, the Christian Democratic Union would receive 22 percent of the vote. This result would represent the CDU’s lowest level ever in the state, as the party has lost 2 percentage points compared with the previous poll, conducted at the end of July.
The AfD, meanwhile, has 42 percent support, one point more than in July. If this percentage were confirmed in the election, the party would double its 2021 result and reach its highest-ever level in elections for the German state parliaments. The Left ranks third with 11 percent, two points lower than in the previous poll.
The SPD is projected to receive 8 percent, while the Greens would get 6 percent. Both parties have increased their support by one point compared with the July poll. Overall, all three parties would remain approximately at the levels they achieved in the 2021 election.
Experts stress that the poll data should not be considered a prediction of the final election result. They reflect only the state of political opinion at the time the survey was conducted.
Slightly more than one in 10 eligible voters in Saxony-Anhalt say they could change their party choice by election day. Meanwhile, 19 percent, or one in five voters, tend not to vote or currently have no preference for any particular party.
