The Tirana Court has ordered the security measure of “detention in custody” for Eraldo Fizi, the former husband of Xhuana Nikolli, who died in March this year after ingesting fostoxin.

Fizi was arrested on September 30, after being wanted since March. Authorities suspect that he subjected his former wife to violence and that his actions contributed to the events that led to the 25-year-old’s suicide.
Xhuana Nikolli and Eraldo Fizi married in June 2025, but the marriage lasted around three months. After the separation, the 25-year-old left Lezha and moved to Tirana, where she lived with her sisters and later in a rented apartment.
On March 9, 2026, one day before her death, Xhuana is suspected of having met her former husband. Family members said that she was assaulted during the meeting. According to reports published during the investigation, signs of violence were also found on the 25-year-old’s head, face and one of her arms.
