Accident in Lushnje/ Elderly Woman Hit by SUV, Hospitalized

A serious road accident occurred on the Lushnjë–Rrogozhinë highway, in the area of Zhamë-Sektor village, where an SUV struck a female pedestrian who was crossing the road.

According to preliminary information, the victim is Bajame Ramazani, 75 years old, a resident of Zhamë-Sektor. She was crossing the highway from one side to the other to reach her agricultural land, going over the traffic divider, only about 50 meters away from an overpass.

The collision was extremely violent, and the elderly woman suffered severe injuries. She was rushed by ambulance to the Lushnje Hospital, where she is in critical condition and under intensive medical care.

Traffic Police services arrived at the scene and have begun a full documentation of the accident while working to manage traffic in the area. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV has been taken in by the police until the full circumstances of the incident are clarified.

Based on initial data, the 75-year-old had attempted to cross the highway to get to her properties on the other side of the road. Although there is a pedestrian overpass in this segment, residents of the area often choose to cross the highway illegally due to their economic interests and the proximity to their agricultural lands.
