Abdixhiku Confirmed Again as LDK Leader: Last Night We Closed a Chapter, Today We Begin the Work

Lumir Abdixhiku will continue to lead the Democratic League of Kosovo after 170 delegates voted against his dismissal at the party’s Extraordinary Assembly, while 152 voted in favor.

After the process concluded, Abdixhiku said that holding the Assembly had been unnecessary, harmful and rushed, but that the event now belonged to the past.

“I considered this Assembly unnecessary, harmful and hasty. Today, it is part of the past. I humbly accept the delegates’ decision and see it as a new responsibility to defend the LDK’s direction with dedication,” the reconfirmed leader said.

He thanked both the delegates who renewed their confidence in him and those who took a different position.

In the LDK, the final decision always rests with the membership.

Last night, the membership made its position clear.

Abdixhiku reiterated that he had considered the Assembly unnecessary, harmful and rushed, while saying that he humbly accepted the delegates’ decision and would regard it as a new responsibility to steadfastly preserve the LDK’s course.

According to him, the LDK remains the property of its membership, and this is the most important conclusion to emerge from last night’s meeting.

This period, he said, put the party to the test, but such tests must not undermine the values on which the LDK was founded. He stressed that dialogue, prudence and respect for differing opinions must continue to serve as guiding principles during this phase as well.

Abdixhiku expressed gratitude to everyone: those who supported him and those who thought differently. He emphasized that democracy does not require unanimity, but respect, calling on everyone to unite “this house” and then contribute to uniting all of Kosovo.

He said this is the mission of the true LDK, while other roles, in his view, do not belong to this party.

Abdixhiku said the LDK needs unity, while the Republic needs institutional stability, functioning institutions and a political approach that places the interests of the state above all other considerations. He described this as the course the party will continue to follow.

“Last night we closed a chapter. Today we begin the work together,” he concluded.

He ended his message by emphasizing that the work would be done for the LDK of its membership and for the Republic of their people.
