LDK Holds Secret Ballot on Abdixhiku, Party Leader Does Not Vote

Delegates of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) have completed the voting process on whether to dismiss party leader Lumir Abdixhiku.

The delegates voted by secret ballot, answering the question: “Should Abdixhiku be dismissed?” According to KP sources, Lumir Abdixhiku himself did not vote.

The votes are now expected to be counted and the results announced.

This extraordinary Assembly was convened at the request of one-third of the delegates, who called for Abdixhiku’s removal from the party leadership.

Voting at the Assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo began after Abdixhiku delivered his speech and Armend Zemaj leveled accusations against him.

Speaking in his capacity as an MP and Assembly member, Zemaj listed the failures that, according to him, have marked Abdixhiku’s leadership of the LDK.

An LDK delegate from Gjilan also spoke during the debate, accusing those “dissatisfied” within the party of trying to destroy their own home.

His speech was cut short after a decision was made to end the debate and proceed immediately to the vote. All 327 delegates were called individually by name to cast their ballots in secret.

Another party Assembly was also held on January 31, 2026. At that meeting, following a secret ballot, the delegates did not accept Lumir Abdixhiku’s resignation. He secured just 28 votes more to remain at the helm of the LDK.

The delegates present at that Assembly voted in secret with “YES” or “NO” on whether to accept or reject the LDK leader’s resignation.
