A small two-seat aircraft crashed on Friday afternoon in Paklenica National Park, near Zadar, killing both people on board.

The aircraft had departed from the Czech Republic, while authorities lost contact with it shortly after 16:00 local time. Following the alert, a large search-and-rescue operation was launched in the mountainous area.
After several hours, teams found the aircraft’s wreckage approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Zadar, within the territory of Paklenica National Park.
The operation at the crash site ended at around 22:00. Police forces confirmed that the two people on board had not survived.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released by Croatian police.
Meanwhile, authorities have opened an investigation to establish the circumstances and causes of the aircraft crash.
