A hearing has begun at the court to determine the security measure against him. Special Prosecution prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu has requested that Markoviq be remanded in custody for 30 days.

Markoviq is suspected of the criminal offenses of “Assault on an Official,” “Participation in a Crowd Committing a Criminal Offense and Hooliganism,” “Association for Anti-Constitutional Activities,” and “Endangering Internationally Protected Persons.”

The violent events in Zveçan began after local Serbs protested against the entry of the newly elected Albanian mayors into municipal buildings in Zveçan, Leposaviq, and Zubin Potok. The clashes left 93 KFOR members injured, some of them seriously.

Kosovo Police officers and several journalists reporting from the scene were also injured.
