A magnitude 6.1 earthquake was recorded today near the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

Indonesia’s geophysics agency said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 29 kilometers. The tremors were felt in areas around Sumatra, but so far there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage.
The seismic event occurred just days after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia, causing dozens of deaths.
