In a public statement, she mocked the way the substations are maintained, noting that fans have been installed to prevent overheating, while calling on the authorities to intervene immediately.
According to Zhupa, the situation is both painful and ridiculous, as it illustrates the state to which the country has been reduced.
She stressed that the electrical substations are located along roads in the center of Saranda, while amid high temperatures, the “modern technology” appears to consist of two fans installed inside them to prevent overheating, malfunctions or even an explosion.
“Under which European standard can such a solution be found? Or at what level of the ‘good management’ promoted by Gonxhja, together with the ‘vision’ of Caci at the municipality?” the MP said.
Zhupa emphasized that beyond the absurd appearance, this is a serious safety issue. Electrical substations located in urban areas must comply with clear technical standards, be properly maintained and be secured to protect residents and nearby businesses.
“We cannot wait for an incident, fire or tragedy before the authorities remember to intervene,” she said.
The MP called for immediate measures and an urgent inspection of the electrical substations in Saranda. According to her, their technical condition, safety standards and capacity to withstand high temperatures must be assessed.
