This Friday, August 14, 2026, marks the 76th day of the citizens’ protest against the government and the political class. The movement, which initially began in opposition to the construction of a tourist resort in Zvërnec, has since evolved into a broader protest with direct political demands.

The protesters’ main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. They are also calling for the formation of a transitional government and the repeal of the law on strategic investments.

According to the organizers, the protest aims to exert public pressure on the institutions to bring about political change and review how strategic investments and the public interest are handled.

Another announced development is the participation of the diaspora. Organizers have said that Albanians living abroad will join the protest in Tirana over three days, August 14, 15 and 16. The diaspora’s involvement is intended to give the protest a broader national character.
