Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko published Zelensky’s statement on the social media platform “X,” describing it as a diplomatic mistake. Goncharenko, who is also the initiator of the draft law on recognizing Kosovo in the Ukrainian Parliament, reacted after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in Belgrade that Ukraine would not change its position of not recognizing Kosovo’s independence.

He further emphasized that Ukrainians, including himself, support Kosovo’s independence and believe that Ukraine should recognize the state.
“This is a diplomatic mistake. Ukrainians support Kosovo’s independence, and we believe that Ukraine should recognize the state. I will continue to fight for Kosovo’s independence, and ultimately Ukraine will recognize it,” Goncharenko wrote.
