The session to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo will resume on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., even though the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court for completing the process expires at midnight on Friday.

Session chair Avni Dehari decided to postpone the meeting after Thursday’s session failed to conclude. The decision was made following a request by caretaker Prime Minister and leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, to allow more time for political negotiations on the formation of new institutions.
The next session was announced several hours after another meeting between Kurti and the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku. The talks ended without an agreement to unblock the political situation.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo opposed the postponement, calling it a violation of the Constitutional Court’s decision and a dangerous precedent for the functioning of the rule of law.
Constitutional experts have also expressed concerns about exceeding the deadline. Eugen Cakolli of the Kosovo Democratic Institute described the decision as “an open violation and a direct undermining of the constitutional order.”
It is still unclear whether opposition lawmakers will attend Saturday’s session. Meanwhile, negotiations among the main parties to reach a political agreement are continuing, but without results.
