The session was adjourned following a request by Vetëvendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti, who asked for more time to consult with representatives of political parties in an effort to reach an agreement on electing the head of state.

Lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) opposed the request, but Avni Dehari, who was chairing the session, decided to suspend it.

Before proceedings were halted, the Assembly completed the first two items on the agenda: it approved the establishment of the Committee for the Verification of Mandates and held the swearing-in ceremony for the new lawmakers.

After it was established that the lawmakers’ mandates complied with current legislation, they took the solemn oath, including members of the Serbian List.

So far, there has been no official announcement regarding the resumption of the inaugural session. If the constitutive process is not completed within the constitutional timeframe, the country risks entering a new period of political and procedural uncertainty.
