Although the beginning of August is approaching, work that began at the far end of the Taulantia Promenade in Durrës remains unfinished. This is despite statements by Mayor Emiriana Sako and the engineer from the company carrying out the project, who had promised that the work would be completed by the end of June.

For the second consecutive summer season, neither workers nor heavy machinery can be seen at the construction site set up in one of the city’s most visited public areas. The delays have sparked reactions among residents, who say it is unacceptable for the project to remain unfinished during the tourist season.
One resident says the road remains passable and the work does not directly obstruct pedestrians, but the situation creates an unsightly appearance. According to him, the work should have been completed long ago and cannot be neglected again after having already been abandoned once before.
Another resident is calling for the work to be completed as soon as possible, describing the situation as an extremely ugly sight that gives the impression the project will never be finished.
The project began last year and was expected to be completed within eight months, but this public investment has also exceeded the set deadlines. At the same time, the construction site has become a dumping ground for waste, damaging the promenade’s image and the experience of tourists and visitors during the summer season.
