The incident occurred on August 3, shortly after 10:00 p.m., in the area of the village of Lower Karaqevë. While patrolling and monitoring the border, Border Police officers identified a suspicious vehicle traveling from the village of Breznicë toward the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
Police stopped the vehicle in the village of Novosellë. During the search, passenger Egzon Reshani got out of the vehicle and attempted to evade the officers by running toward the border with Serbia.
Police officers apprehended the suspect near the border, preventing him from leaving Kosovo’s territory.
According to Kosovo Police, there was an active arrest warrant for Reshani, as he was wanted by the judicial authorities for several serious criminal offenses: “Attempted Murder,” “Usury,” “Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty,” and “Coercion.”
During a physical search, officers found and seized a knife from him. After consulting the competent prosecutor, proceedings were initiated in connection with the criminal offense of “Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon.”
After the Border Police completed their actions, the suspect was handed over to the relevant units of the Regional Police Directorate in Prizren, which will continue the proceedings related to the arrest warrant and the cases for which he was wanted.
