A 20-year-old Chilean national has died after falling into a stream in Greek territory while traveling on foot from Albania to Greece.

The incident occurred near Mavromati, in northwestern Greece. According to Greek authorities, the young man was traveling with a friend when he slipped and fell into the stream.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
The victim’s 22-year-old friend told firefighters that the two had chosen to cross the border on foot to avoid the expense, as they had limited funds.
Greek authorities have opened an investigation to determine all the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
