The protest, initially sparked by developments in Zvërnec, has now grown into a civic movement against the government and what organizers call the “political caste.” For more than two months, protests have been held daily, accompanied by marches along the capital’s main roads and calls for political change.

During a rally held the previous day, activists stressed that they would not abandon their cause and reiterated their demand for the prime minister’s resignation. According to them, public discontent is also spreading to other cities across the country because of the new territorial reform, as the governing majority’s proposal envisages the dissolution of 15 municipalities.
