Glauk Konjufca, acting minister of foreign affairs and deputy leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, has announced that more advanced negotiations with the Democratic League of Kosovo could take place this week.

In a statement to T7, he said that before the constitutive session of the Assembly, scheduled for Thursday, further political meetings aimed at establishing the institutions are expected.
Konjufca said that the Vetëvendosje Movement is expected to send the LDK an invitation for dialogue in the coming days. According to him, setting August 6 as the date is precisely linked to the need to allow time for this process.
“I expect that in the coming days, even before the session is held, there will be further meetings at the political level between the political parties, all with the aim of resolving the situation we are in and creating an opportunity for the establishment of new institutions,” he said.
He expressed optimism that, following the constitution of the Assembly, an agreement with the LDK on forming the institutions and dividing all senior positions could be reached quickly.
“This is why August 6 was set, as you have seen, and I expect that in the coming days an invitation will also be sent to the Democratic League of Kosovo and that we will hold talks regarding this possibility,” Konjufca said.
Asked whether the post of president could also be included in these negotiations, Konjufca said there was hope of reaching an agreement on this position as well.
“Yes, there is hope for the president as well. We will enter into more in-depth negotiations with the Democratic League of Kosovo, as the prime minister himself has explained, and then we will see what outcome this process produces,” he said.
Konjufca added that the LDK had also conveyed its willingness to hold talks with the Vetëvendosje Movement. He said this made him optimistic about reaching an agreement on all senior positions in the Republic of Kosovo.
“The aim has been—and the leadership of the LDK has explained this—that they will be ready to hold talks with the Vetëvendosje Movement. After that, I am very optimistic that we will have an agreement on all senior positions in the Republic of Kosovo. I believe we will have a solution,” Konjufca concluded.
