Wildfires have swept through several areas of Greece, forcing the authorities to order the evacuation of thousands of people, including tourists.

During his continuing reports from the scene, he said the flames remain out of control and have begun engulfing homes in the area.
Large numbers of firefighters have been deployed in efforts to contain the blaze, while local residents have also joined operations on the ground.
Helicopters are also intervening from the air, dropping water on the fire fronts to help extinguish the flames.
The wildfires have also spread to Western Attica. Greek media report that a total of 496 firefighters are operating in the area, organized into 22 unit teams, along with volunteers and 134 fire engines.
