According to him, some of the fire hotspots have been completely extinguished, while others have been brought under control.
Angellov said that the situation was stable during the morning, although several fires remain active in open areas. He stressed that the situation could change at any moment and that, while he was making the statement, new fire hotspots could emerge in different parts of the country.
He singled out as the most serious and difficult-to-extinguish case the fire that spread from the Struga landfill to the surrounding vegetation. The fire was also active yesterday afternoon and was initially brought partially under control, but today it once again got out of firefighters’ control. Angellov said there are currently flames and that at least two air tractors will be deployed to the area.
