Këlcyra Opposes Merger with Përmet as Residents Protest in the Square

Dozens of Këlcyra residents gathered in the town’s central square on Friday afternoon to protest the proposed new territorial reform.

The proposal calls for the Municipality of Këlcyra to be dissolved and merged with the Municipality of Përmet, a change that has sparked discontent among residents.

According to the protesters, the initiative undermines their area’s historical, cultural and administrative importance. With messages reading “Historic Këlcyra” and “Këlcyra of Culture,” they called for the town to continue operating as a separate municipality.
